A Tectonic Shift in Global Trade: Belt and Road Initiative Infrastructure Development, Uncertainties & Its New Opportunities for Mergers and Acquisitions
At a time when most of the world is following their own nationalist impulses, it would seem the Asia Pacific Region is witnessing a boom for mergers and acquisitions, and domestic and cross-border deals, for now at least. Notably, China is seemingly embracing a globalist approach through its Belt and Road Initiative, BRI--ambitious, and aiming to influence economic growth in many countries across Eurasia, the South Pacific, West Africa, and even Latin America, the BRI stands to forge strategic business partnerships; enhance trade, economics and cultural exchanges. Our panel discusses the current state of M&A market across Asia Pacific, uncertainties at home and globally; the rising regulatory changes; technology and consumer influences; ongoing trade and tariff negotiations, and shared hurdles in delivering deals successfully.
